Everyone loves a cheesy, gooey, oh-so-warm slice of pizza and Torontonians are no exception. The city is home to some incredible pizza places serving up slices – and whole pies – full of traditional toppings or unique flavour combinations you won’t find anywhere else. Now that we’ve tempted your taste buds, check out the top spots to grab a slice whether you’re exploring city on your visit or are a local in search of your new favourite pizza spot.

North of Brooklyn

With multiple locations around Toronto, North of Brooklyn serves up whole pies with premium toppings like truffles, kale and bacon, and more. The Killer Bee pizza is a menu standout, arriving with Calabrese sausage, pickled red onions and drizzled with hot honey. Hit up the Church Street location in the heart of Church-Wellesley Village not far from UP Express Union Station or visit the location inside The Greater Good bar on Geary Avenue where you can check out one of Toronto’s top craft beer spots, Blood Brothers Brewing.

Fourth Man in the Fire

Go for a classic Italian ‘za or build your own pie at this dine-in and takeout spot. Saint Island Pies

Sometimes you want to mix things up a bit when it comes to your pizza toppings, and Saint Island Pies does just that. This spot features Filipino flavours and ingredients like coconut cream, smoked fish, and fermented chilis and on their Detroit-style pies including the Spicy Laing, Longanisa, Plantation, and Tinapa pizzas. Takeout and delivery are currently on hold at their Queen Street West shop but you can grab a frozen pie to take home with you on UP Express

Pizzeria Defina

You can certainly work up an appetite exploring Roncesvalles Village and High Park! On your next visit to this vibrant neighbourhood just steps from UP Express Bloor Station, check out Pizzeria Defina for wood fired Napoletana style pizza. To really get a taste of the neighbourhood, try the Roncy with fior de latte, Yukon gold potatoes, double smoked bacon, caramelized shallots and dill. You’ll also find a second location north of UP Express Bloor Station on Dupont Street.

General Assembly

If you love the pizzas at General Assembly’s restaurant on Adelaide Street West near UP Express Union Station, you can grab a stack of frozen pies to go! Featuring a variety of red or white-sauce, meatless and plant-based pies, try a unique flavour combination like the Lamborghini with lamb sausage, za’atar, yogurt, mint and parsley or opt for one of the vegan options like the Marg Simpson with vegan mozzarella and parmesan. Aleeza’s Pizza

Did you know Hawaiian pizza was invented in Canada? Far from the beaches of Hawaii, this Canadian creation has divided pizza lovers since 1954. Try it for yourself at Aleeza’s Pizza near UP Express Weston Station and decide whether pineapple belongs on pizza once and for all.

Descendant Pizza

Bring your appetite for a taste of Descendant Pizza’s Detroit-style offerings in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood. A pan pizza with a thick and chewy crust, Descendant brings the flavour to this pizza party with their popular Jaffna pie featuring kothu roti, mango chutney, roasted garlic, and double smoked bacon topped with ooey-gooey cheese or the electric avenue topped with jerk chicken and fresh pineapple.

Fabbrica

Canadian celebrity chef Mark McEwan’s Fabbrica brings regional Italian fare to the TD building in the PATH, directly across from UP Express Union Station for takeaway. When you’re in a hurry, grab a Roman-style square of the tasty hot honey pepperoni sausage or a whole funghi pizza to go. When you’re on a schedule, UP Express will help you keep your trip on track with trains departing every 15 minutes from downtown Toronto’s Union Station for the 25-minute journey to Pearson Airport.

Maker Pizza

It’s hard to pick a favourite pizza in Toronto, but Maker Pizza’s Frank’s Best pie with caramelized onions, goat cheese, grass-fed mozzarella, rosemary, sea salt, organic honey on a sesame crust might just be it. Or maybe it’s their Tropic Thunder with chili infused pineapple, pickled jalapeños, pickled red onion, grass-fed mozzarella, fior de latte, red chilies and salsa verde. Try the popular shawarma-inspired lamb pizza or indulge in a meat lover’s delight with pepperoni, kofta meatballs and sujuk sausage. Pizzas can also be customized for vegan, vegetarian and halal needs so all visitors can get a taste of these unique flavours.

You’ll be spoiled for choice here with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available at multiple locations including one close to UP Express Union Station on University Avenue and near UP Express Bloor Station in The Junction neighbourhood. The bufala margherita with san marzano tomato sauce and bufala mozzarella is a favourite here.
